The latest results of the University Ranking conducted by the CHE Centre for Higher Education were published today by DIE ZEIT in the ZEIT Study Guide 2023/24 and on HeyStudium. The ranking features students’ assessments of the study conditions at their higher education institution (HEI), as well as facts about academic studies, teaching and research. The 300-page ZEIT Study Guide contains excerpts from the ranking, and provides answers to key questions about choosing the right subject to study, applying for a place, funding, and entering higher education. The subjects reassessed this year were Law, Business and Social Work. For the first time, students in these subjects also give their verdict on elements of online teaching.
Besides the traditional subjects of Business Administration, Economics, and Business Studies, prospective students with an interest in economics can now choose from a wide range of degree programmes offering elements of Law, Psychology, Computer Science or Engineering, enabling them to specifically combine content from both subjects. Such programmes are available not only at universities, but also at universities of applied sciences. Assessments by current students show that the programme structure of these combined subjects is also excellent at many HEIs. In addition, support is often provided at the start of the programme, and in many cases universities of applied sciences in particular have very good links with professional practice. The results of the CHE University Ranking 2023/24, published today, show where students are very satisfied with their overall study situation.
Frank Ziegele, Executive Director of the CHE Centre for Higher Education: “The CHE Ranking offers prospective students first-hand information about what really awaits them at their chosen university. And in this respect, they can rely on the quality of the results.”
The CHE University Ranking, involving the survey of around 120,000 students, has now been the most extensive and detailed comparison of higher education institutions in the German-speaking world for 25 years.
The full ranking is now available online on HeyStudium at heystudium.de/ranking. A new feature this year: the results of the student survey are clearly represented using a 5-star scale. As in the past, the fact-based ranking results are classified into three ranking groups (a top group, a middle group and a bottom group).
Martin Spiewak, Editor-in-Chief of the ZEIT Study Guide: “The number of degree programmes increases from year to year – together with Abitur holders’ need for guidance. By providing the ranking and a wealth of background information, tips and checklists, we aim to help prospective students make an informed choice.”
